The fund is co-managed by Nuveen Fund Advisors LLC, Nuveen Asset Management, LLC, and NWQ Investment Management Company, LLC. It invests in the public equity and fixed income markets of the United States. The fund seeks to invest in securities of companies operating across diversified sectors. It primarily invests in preferred securities, dividend paying stocks of companies, and corporate and taxable municipal debt securities which are rated BBB/Baa or better by S&P, Moody's, or Fitch. The fund employs fundamental analysis with a top-down stock picking approach to create its portfolio. It benchmarks the performance of its portfolio against the BofA/Merrill Lynch Preferred Stock Fixed Rate Index and the JPC Blended Index which is comprised of 82.5% BofA/Merrill Lynch Preferred Stock Fixed Rate Index and 17.5% Barclays Capital Securities Index. The fund was formerly known as Nuveen Preferred Income Opportunities Fund. Nuveen Preferred & Income Opportunities Fund was formed on March 26, 2003 and is domiciled in the United States.
